| High Performance 24-bit Audio CODEC with 4-input and 6/8-ouput channels |
| Tokyo Japan, July 7 2011, Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) today launched the AK4627 and AK4629, high performance 24-bit stereo audio CODECs. AKM is a leading provider of CODEC’s with two inputs and up to eight outputs for multi-channel audio systems, including A/V receivers automotive sound systems. The highly acclaimed AK4626A and AK4628A, currently in mass production, are widely used for home theater systems, DVD component systems and automotive audio systems. Improving on the AK4626A and AK4628A designs, the AK4627/9 expands the number of ADC channels to four to meet requirements for microphone inputs in car audio and car navigation systems. For improved audio and voice quality, the AK4627/9 supports differential inputs, which improves noise immunity. A time-division multiplex (TDM) audio interface mode is supported to simplify and reduce the DSP interface ports. Both differential and single-ended signals are selectable for the analog inputs and outputs through register settings, enabling a high level of system design flexibility. The AK4627 features six outputs, and the AK4629 features eight outputs. Both versions have four input channels, and they are footprint-compatible. The AK4627/9 supports sampling rates up to 192kHz. Integrated features include channel independent volume control, digital de-emphasis filter and a soft mute circuit. The operating voltage of the digital block ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V, and from 4.5V to 5.5V for the analog core. The operating ambient temperature ranges up to 105°C, making the AK4627/9 suitable for automotive applications. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
