| DSP with Integrated CODEC and MIC/Lineout amplifiers Ideal for Hands-Free Applications |
| Tokyo Japan, Sep 22 2010, Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) today launched the AK7756 and the AK7756VF, a digital signal processor (DSP) with a mono CODEC, a microphone and lineout amplifiers. AKM’s royalty-free high performance noise and echo cancellation algorithms are available for porting to these devices. The hands-free voice algorithm enables full-duplex telephone calls in high noise environments, such as inside an automobile. Both echo and noise cancellation algorithms are included in the hands-free program. Parameters are fully tunable for a variety of operating conditions. Programs are loaded into internal RAM via a serial interface from a microcontroller, allowing for seamless updates. For connecting to other audio devices such as Baseband, ACPU and Bluetooth modules, the serial voice interface supports MSB-first, LSB-first, I²S and PCM audio data formats. A power management function operated by clock inputs is an advantage for power saving. A boot loader function, which downloads programs and register settings to the internal RAM from an external EEPROM when the AK7756/56VF is powered up, enables building a simple system without a host controller. The AK7756/56VF contains an integrated mono CODEC and a differential input microphone amplifier. It operates off of 3.3V and 1.8V power supplies. The AK7756 is housed in a small 28-pin QFN package (consumer grade: -20ºC ~85ºC) and the AK7756VF is available in a small 30-pin VSOP package (automotive grade: -40ºC ~85ºC). They can be programmed for high performance noise and echo cancellation processing for hands-free functions.
