Asahi Kasei Water Environment Preservation Foundation holds
2010 Water Environment Preservation Award Ceremony in Beijing
 
The first Water Environment Preservation Award Ceremony of the Asahi Kasei Water Environment Preservation Foundation was held on June 5, 2010, in Beijing, China. Forty-six awards were presented at the ceremony-twenty-seven for the Best Thesis Award and nineteen for the Best Public Service Award.

The Asahi Kasei Water Environment Preservation Foundation was established in February 2009 jointly by Asahi Kasei Chemicals and the China Foundation for Guangcai Program. Objectives of the foundation are to promote youth education in China with regard to the water environment and to support research in China related to the water environment.

Activities of the Asahi Kasei Water Environment Preservation Foundation began in August 2009, with the support for a student volunteer program in Wen Xian County, Gansu Province, an area which was affected by the Sichuan earthquake of 2008, called "Educational Support Program of 100 Volunteers in Wen Xian County, Gansu Province."

Recipients of the Best Thesis Award selected among researchers of water-treatment related research organizations, personnel of water-treatment related companies, and university professors and researchers studying in water-treatment related subjects. Recipients of the Best Public Service Award were selected among persons who made outstanding contributions to the preservation of the water environment.
