Construction of a new research complex in the Pharmaceuticals Research Center

Asahi Kasei Pharma has made a decision to construct a new research complex in its Pharmaceutical Research Center in Shizuoka, Japan, to advance research on new drugs, with utilization scheduled to begin in fiscal 2013.

This April, the Asahi Kasei Group launched a new medium-term strategic management initiative, “For Tomorrow 2015,” for the five-year period from fiscal 2011 through fiscal 2015, under which the expansion of operations in the field of health care is a major objective. With its research activities in the pharmaceutical field focused on successively generating new drugs which meet unmet medical needs, Asahi Kasei Pharma determined that the construction of an advanced new complex would enhance its research infrastructure and enable R&D functions to be performed even more effectively.

The new research complex will be equipped with advanced experimental apparatus and facilities for greater functionality and efficiency to enable research to advance with heightened competitive superiority. In addition, the complex will provide an environment to facilitate closer collaboration and coordination among researchers, further enhancing global competitiveness.
