Our electronic devices business offers a variety of LSI products featuring outstanding analog/digital mixed signal technology, represented by LSIs for mobile communications and the electronic compass as a key component of smartphones and tablets, and sensing devices such as magnetic sensors, current sensors, and infrared sensors. The unrivaled, cutting-edge technology embodied throughout the product lineup is widely recognized among electronics manufacturers around the world.
Our electronic materials business includes a broad range of high-performance energy/electronics materials such as Hipore™ microporous membrane separator, an essential component of the Li-ion battery which is ubiquitous in portable electronics and increasingly adopted in electric vehicles, photomask pellicles used in the production of LCD panels and semiconductors, and many other products created through exceptional chemical technology and R&D capabilities.
Products throughout this business sector contribute to the development of society, making the most of our unique and advanced technology to help make life better for more people around the world.

Mixed-signal LSIs
Used in smartphones and many other applications
Our advanced mixed-signal LSIs feature low power consumption, high speed, and high precision. Mixed-signal LSIs play an essential role in bridging the gap between the analog information of the natural world and the digital information of electronic systems. Applications range from mobile communications to networking gear to automobiles. The electronic compass, an advanced product which combines magnetic sensors and LSIs in a single device, finds widespread use in smartphones and other portable devices.

Hall elements and Hall ICs
High-performance magnetic sensors
Hall elements are high-performance magnetic sensors used for control of brushless motors in optical disc drives and air conditioner fans, as well as for digital camera image-stabilization mechanisms and many other areas. Hall ICs, comprising a combination of Hall elements and signal processing circuits, are used for mobile phone open/close detection switches, pointer control devices, and automobile power windows.

Fine-pattern coils
Thin, flat coils for miniature motors
Fine-pattern coils comprise precise, narrow, yet high-profile copper conductor patterns formed on flat substrates using our unique precision lithography and plating technology. Taking the place of wound wire to enable thinner and smaller electric motors, they are tailored to meet individual customer requirements. Applications are expanding to include image-stabilization mechanisms of digital still cameras and digital video cameras.
With advanced technology, Asahi Kasei Microdevices provides world-leading analog/digital mixed-signal LSIs and magnetic sensors that support the electronics industry in a wide range of applications.

Hipore™ Li-ion battery separator
Demand is growing in batteries for electric vehicles
This business includes environmentally friendly, high-performance materials for energy, such as the Hipore™ lithium-ion rechargeable battery (LIB) separator. A flat microporous sheet of polyolefin, Hipore™ is the world’s leading separator membrane for LIBs used in cell phones, laptop PCs, and other electronic applications. Available pore sizes range from 0.05 µm to 0.5 µm. Demand is forecasted to increase notably in electric vehicle applications. Ongoing technological innovation and product development is advancing as part of our commitment as the market leader to maintain stable product supply in accordance with emerging market needs.

Photomask pellicle
Dust protection film to prevent defects in LCD panel production
Photomask pellicles are transparent films which keep dust away from the photomask surface, where it would cause exposure defects in the photolithography process. We are Japan’s only* manufacturer of the full range of pellicles, compatible with every mask size and exposure light source, for both semiconductor and LCD panel applications.
This product category includes high-performance materials for substrates, semiconductors, and imaging, based on world-leading polymer technology. A comprehensive range of Sunfort™ dry film photoresist products are available for advanced, high-end applications in the fields of printed wiring boards and semiconductor packages. Pimel™ photosensitive polyimide/PBO precursor is the de facto standard for semiconductor buffer coats, widely used in the production of flash memory, DRAM, and other semiconductors for smartphones and computers.
