- S-3 type absorbs odors from tobacco and pets, and from the decay of eggs, fish vegetables, and meats.
- V type additionally absorbs airborne vapors from toluene, xylene, formaldehyde, and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Its absorption of low-concentration formaldehyde vapor, which may be given off by adhesives in construction materials, effectively reduces the airborne level of this vapor in new homes and buildings.
- The absorption activity can be repeatedly restored by airing in sunlight for five hours or more.
