Bemberg™ at Pitti Uomo 102: formal elegance meets responsible T-shirt innovation in partnership with MagnoLab

  • MagnoLab

On the occasion of the 102nd edition of Pitti Uomo, Bemberg™ by Asahi Kasei, an international reference in men's formalwear and the world's only producer of the precious and sustainable Bemberg™, is teaming up with MagnoLab, a network of Biella-based companies apt to carry out projects related to sustainability and circular economy, to create and display t-shirts that combine environmental responsibility and aesthetic research.

A unique fiber with a circular economy footprint obtained from cotton linters through a closed-loop process, Bemberg™ ensures certified sustainability credentials through its transparent and traceable approach. In terms of aesthetics, the Japanese company's fiber gives rise to threads with a lustrous and precious hand, thanks to its vision focused on contemporary beauty and distinctive quality. Historically used for crafting linings for formal suits, today Bemberg™ is also being declined in shirts, cocktail dresses, dust coats, coordinates, outerwear and more by international brands operating in the fashion and luxury industries. In order to demonstrate its journey and evolution in contemporary style best, Bemberg™ -in synergy with MagnoLab- engaged in the development of a project that resulted in contemporary cut t-shirts presented both in sheer and blends with other certified fibers, including GOTS cottons and RWS wools, capable of enhancing both the hand of the final garment and the performance of the yarn.

"We are extremely happy to return to Pitti with a project that speaks of an innovative supply chain focused on environmental and social responsibility. Never before has collaboration between companies been as crucial as it is today. The last few years have taught us that making a system is the key to collective and conscious success, capable of activating concrete change." Underlines Ettore Pellegrini, Marketing & Sales Manager of Asahi Kasei Fibers Italia. "This collaboration fits perfectly into our development strategy on the Italian territory, linked to the textile excellence of our districts and the expansion of Bemberg™ fiber in the contemporary wardrobe."

The project conceived for Pitti Uomo 102 stems from the spirit of Bemberg™ and fits perfectly into the philosophy of MagnoLab, whose mission is to carry out projects related to environmental responsibility through a joint and participatory approach of partners, and to create value by developing innovative products and processes with rapid testing cycles, according to a lean management model.

"The MagnoLab project arose with the aim of developing innovation projects in the textile industry, especially in the field of sustainability. Collaboration between the companies that are part of MagnoLab has always existed, and the project with Bemberg™ is an example of this: bringing a finished garment that is an expression of the know-how and focus of each step in the supply chain that enables it to arrive at the final brand allows the added value of both the product and the process to be expressed. The evolution of MagnoLab, with the opening of the pilot R&D facilities united in a single space, expected in a few months, will be a living expression of how much the importance of continuous research and collaboration between different players can give a positive input to the textile sector." Says Giovanni Marchi, president of MagnoLab.

Magnolab's story began with a network of companies joining together in 2022 at the behest of a group of companies in the Biella district: Marchi & Fildi, Filidea, Tintoria Finissaggio 2000, Maglificio Maggia, De Martini, DBT Fibre and Di.Vé. These are textile companies active at various stages and with complementary roles in the supply chain, working in synergy by sharing goals, resourcefulness and foresight. Openness to new supply chain partners to collaborate with is the basis of MagnoLab's philosophy. Its strength lies in a physical network of pilot plants, installed in a single location in Cerrione (Biella), in which innovative products and processes can be collaboratively developed with rapid and streamlined testing cycles.

The new Bemberg™ x MagnoLab product range will be available to the market from June 14th, the first day of the 102nd edition of Pitti Uomo.
