We are greatly concerned with the negative environmental impact created in the textile industry and we are continuing to develop new technologies to minimize the impact.

Aiming to achieve effective utilization of limited resources

Recycled ultra fine microfibers

By using recycled polyester ultra fine microfibers in some Lamous products, we are reducing oil / petroleum usage and helping to minimize carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Advancing the use of substances to reduce the negative environmental impact. “A free of organic solvent in Lamous material as well as in production process.”

Water based polyurethane

The water based polyurethane used in Lamous enabling to reduce the burden placed on the environment in comparison with typical organic solvent types that contain DMF*1. Asahi Kasei was a pioneer in the use of water based polyurethane in the artificial suede industry, in accordance with the handling of chemical substances under European REACH regulations and other such regulations.

Direct spinning method

The Lamous ultra fine microfibers are spun directly from high-quality raw materials using a direct spinning process instead of the typical (composite) manufacturing method of extraction via organic solvents containing substances such as trichloroethylene*2. In selecting our raw materials, we pay consideration for the impact they may have on the human body.

*1 : DMF (dimethylformamide)
In European countries, due to concerns over its reproductive toxicity, DMF is designated as a substance of high concern under REACH regulations. The use of DMF in industrial processes, as well as the import and sale of DMF-containing products is restricted by law (under Article 59(10) of the REACH regulations).
*2 : Trichloroethylene
In Europe there are strong suspicions of the carcinogenic nature of trichloroethylene, and it is designated as an “Authorization List” substance under REACH regulations. The use of trichloroethylene in industrial processes, as well as the import and sale of products containing it is restricted by law (Annex XIV (“Authorization List”) of the REACH regulations).

Certificates

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 - Class 1 -

“A baby-friendly material for 0-3 years old.”

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is globally well known as a safety standard for the assessment of harmful substances for textile. The marked product fulfils the conditions specified in this standard such as the harmful substances which cause negative impact to humans and the environment are under the limit value.
