EVOH (EVAL™)

EVOH (EVAL™)As healthcare professionals we know you are striving to provide better and safer dialysis for your patients and give them an improved Quality of Life.
You can do this using the superior removal capability and enhanced biocompatibility of the new EVOH (EVAL™) low flux dialyzer from Asahi.

Features

  • Good biocompatibility
  • Synthetic hydrophilic membrane
  • Less Cell Activation with EVOH (EVAL™) membrane

Synthetic hydrophilic membrane, EVOH (EVAL™)

  • EVOH (EVAL™) is a synthetic polymer having both hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments. The hydrophilic segments attract water creating a “dynamic water structure” at the membrane surface, which is considered to reduce blood-membrane interaction.
  • EVOH (EVAL™) is free from plasticizers and other production additives.

Synthetic hydrophilic membrane, EVOH (EVAL™)

  • EVOH (EVAL™) has a unique surface that prevents adsorption of not only proteins and platelets, but also medication, anticoagulant, etc.

Unit : ethylene vinyl alcohol
copolymer (EVAL™),
cellulose
diacetate (CDA) minidialyzers
(surface area : 130cm2)

Comparison diagram

Protein adsorption onto the dialysis membrane and subsequent denaturation contribute to thrombogenicity and reduction in membrane performance.

EVOH (EVAL™) membrane adsorbs less protein than cellulose diacetate membrane.

Less Cell Activation with EVOH (EVAL™) membrane

Platelet activation during dialysis was examined by measuring the exposure on the cell surface of the activation-dependent antigen, P-selectin (CD62P).

Dialysis with EVOH (EVAL™) is associated with a lower degree of platelet reactivity than other membranes as well as less neutrophil/monocyte activation. These results indicate a better biocompatibility profile for EVOH (EVAL™).
