On October 1, 2008, holdings in Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical Co., Ltd. and Asahi Kasei Medical Co., Ltd. by Asahi Kasei Pharma Corp., a core operating company of the Asahi Kasei Group, were transferred to Asahi Kasei Corp., holding company of the Asahi Kasei Group. Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical is now 93% held by Asahi Kasei and 7% held by Kuraray Medical Inc., and Asahi Kasei Medical is now 100% held by Asahi Kasei.

With their new status as direct subsidiaries of Asahi Kasei and as core operating companies of the Asahi Kasei Group, Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical and Asahi Kasei Medical will further advance the expansion of medical device-related operations as a focus for growth in the Asahi Kasei Group's Growth Action - 2010 strategic initiative, through swift decision-making and strategic resource allocation.
