Pharmaceutical and Food (2)

In the pharmaceutical and food industries, Microza is being used to remove impurities and in the manufacture of raw materials for biotechnology. Microza is alsowidely used in enzyme concentration, antibiotic manufacture, and for production of water for injection (WFI) and highly purified water.

Pharmaceutical and Food
1.Production of pyrogen-free and bacteria-free water
2.Other processes

AP series
Pioneer of high reliability hollow fiber membranes Extensive lineup of sanitary membrane modules
"Fouling resistant membrane"
Membrane material is hydrophilic polyacrylonitrile (PAN) which resists adherence of hydrophobic materials such as proteins and oily substances. The membrane's performance may also be recovered by cleaning with dilute chemicals.

Primary Applications
This membrane exhibits the above noted features, especially for enzyme or protein concentration and desalting. Another potential application is the separation of protein without denaturing by heat so as to retain flavor. Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation has enjoyed a long and excellent reputation in various industries, and has extensive experience in food applications, including:

Enzyme and protein products: Concentration and purification
Fermentation processes: Bacterial removal and purification
Production of bacteria-free water
Food products: purification (bacteria removal, protein removal)
Colloidal suspensions: Concentration and purification
Aqueous solutions: Recovery of high value constituents

Clossflow Filtration Mode :
Feed solution flows parallel to the membrane surface and washes away solids on the membrane surface to prevent the formation of a filter cake, thus providing a more stable filter performance than a filter operated in a "dead end" filtration mode.
Reverse Filtration capable
In addition to the crossflow washing, intermittent reverse filtration is employed to remove solids that may accumulate on the membrane surface. This further facilitates stable performance and increases filter capacity.
Membrane structure with uniform pore size distribution

A sponge structure with uniform pore size distribution at the membrane surface and a uniform internal structure that provides efficient filtration performance and increased membrane strength.
Superior Chemical Compatibility
The polyethylene and polyfluorovinylidenne (PVDF) membranes are virtually impervious to degradation by microorganism. The MF membranes are resistant to a wide pH range, and may be cleaned and regenerated with chemicals to reduce operating cost.
Extensive selection of Membranes and Modules
Module types, materials, and membrane pore size variations are available to meet application requirements.
Large membrane area per module
Large membrane area per module reduces system footprint.

Primary Applications
Replacement of diatomaceous earth (DE) filtration and centrifugation
Fermentation processes: Bacteria removal and purification
Cell harvesting / cell washing: Concentration and purification
Food processing: Bacteria removal and purification
Colloidal suspensions: Concentration and purification
Aqueous solutions: Recovery of high value constituents
