Asahi Kasei exhibits AKXY™ POD vehicle interior concept mockup at Automotive Engineering Exposition 2019 Yokohama
Asahi Kasei Corp.
Asahi Kasei has produced AKXY™ POD as a vehicle interior concept mockup to showcase proposals for future comfort and stimulate the development of new materials, products, and technologies together with customers. AKXY™ POD will be exhibited at the Automotive Engineering Exposition 2019, held from May 22 to 24 in Yokohama, Japan.
Comprising a variety of Asahi Kasei fiber products, plastics, and sensors, AKXY™ POD demonstrates the company’s concept for the future of passenger comfort, safety, and security inside vehicles. It is designed to inspire visitors by enabling them to directly experience the future vehicle space through the senses of touch, sight, sound, and smell. The design also embodies Asahi Kasei’s vision for connecting vehicles with materials and connecting passengers with nature as an expression of harmony with the natural environment.
Since its debut in 2017, Asahi Kasei’s AKXY™drivable concept car, whose name derives from Asahi Kasei X (multiplied by) You (the customer), has been displayed at various public events and private exhibitions around the world, stimulating discussion with many people in the automotive industry about the future of the automobile. The 2018 acquisition of Sage Automotive Interiors, a US-based manufacturer of automotive interior material, further strengthened Asahi Kasei’s ability to provide comprehensive proposals and solutions for vehicle interior space by leveraging Sage’s design and marketing capabilities in combination with various Asahi Kasei products and technologies.
Asahi Kasei will continue to provide proposals that meet customers’ needs while swiftly adapting to various changes in the automotive industry.
