High-strength Fiber for 
OVERVIEW
High-strength fibers have the special features of water-resistant, lightweight and impact-resistant fibers. They are used, for example, in bulletproof vests, ship mooring ropes and cut-resistant gloves.
UHMWPE with a molecular weight from around 3 to 5 million g/mol is used as a raw material for these fibers. SUNFINE™ holds a large market share in this application. With Asahi Kasei's long history of transactions with leading companies in the fiber sector, SUNFINE™ has many grades with a wide molecular weight range suited particularly for fiber applications. In addition, Asahi Kasei continues its efforts to develop fiber materials that match the needs of its customers.

Bulletproof applications
UHMWPE Fibers are used in many different bulletproof products, such as bulletproof vests, helmets and shields. Asahi Kasei is dedicated to increasing the strength of fibers. With a view toward achieving lower-profile and lighter weight products that are even more safe, Asahi Kasei provides grades with high molecular weights and greater workability.

Rope applications
A wide variety of high-strength ropes are in demand in the market, including ship mooring ropes, offshore module fixation ropes and ropes for sports. Asahi Kasei proposes raw materials for ropes that provide greater safety and increased functionality.

Molding
Asahi Kasei offers several grades suited for molding applications. They contain a low level of foreign matter and have high whiteness. Some grades meet standards for food applications.
