OVERVIEW
SUNFINE™ was begun to be used by lithium-ion battery (LiB) industry for separator applications at an early stage of LiB development and has since been fulfilling the needs of customers.
There are a wide array of high-quality grades of SUNFINE™ ideal for this application. Asahi Kasei has been continuing research and development to create and constantly improve raw materials to meet the demands placed on the latest high-function LiB separators.

High-strength separators
The grade design adopted for SUNFINE™ features a molecular weight distribution within a narrow range. The content of low molecular weight ingredients causing the deterioration of strength in grades of SUNFINE™ for separator applications is reduced, increasing their puncture-resistance. That leads to higher impact resistance and improved battery safety.

Very low metal residues
The trace metal residues in SUNFINE™ derived from catalysts are very low, a feature achieved using advanced catalyst technology. This reduces the problems caused by increased pressure in the extruder when SUNFINE™ is used. It also minimizes the risk of equipment corrosion.

SUNFINE™ maintains highly stabile physical properties in every lot through intensive plant management and advanced catalyst technology, enabling customers to achieve higher production stability and reduce costs.

Developed from Asahi Kasei's experience supplying industry-leading companies, it offers a distinguished high molecular weight grade that helps achieve the functional enhancement of fibers.

Molding
Asahi Kasei offers several grades suited for molding applications. They contain a low level of foreign matter and have high whiteness. Some grades meet standards for food applications.
