What is Bemberg?

A history of reliability that leads the way to the future

The origins of Bemberg date back to the late 19th century.
In 1897, German company J.P. Bemberg succeeded in commercializing
a new textile production technology called the cuprammonium process.
In 1928, this technology was introduced into Asahi Kasei from J.P. Bemberg.
In 1931, we built the Bemberg Plant in Nobeoka City, Miyazaki Prefecture, and started operations.
Asahi Kasei has worked to improve the quality of Bemberg and expand its applications through the years,
all the while giving our foremost consideration to the natural environment.
Bemberg has stood the test of time for over eight decades.
Its quality is welcomed across the globe,
and it continues to grow and ensure the comfort of human lives and the environment.
As it always has. As it always will.

The proven quality of Bemberg™ as told by history.
In 1931, Asahi Kasei started operations at the Bemberg factory built in Nobeoka in Miyazaki Prefecture.
As the only manufacturer of Bemberg (generic name: Cupro) in Japan, Asahi Kasei has endeavored to improve product quality and to increase the range of uses while cherishing the natural environment since establishing the factory.  This takes us to the present day, when Asahi Kasei is proud of its unparalleled share of the global market.  It can certainly be said that after more than 80 years of testing, the quality of the Bemberg fiber is recognized worldwide.
