Development of cellulose technology

Asahi Kasei's expertise in the field of cellulose initiated more than 90 years ago when it first started sales of Cupro fiber with the trade name "Bemberg™" in Japan. Since then, we have manufactured and developed various regenerated cellulose products with unique characteristics in macro/micro structure, and six of them have been commercialized.
We are now adapting this know-how to various application fields, for example as additive, filler material for plastics and rubber, and so on.

Circularity and sustainability

Our cellulose materials are made from 100% cotton linter-a pre-consumer material obtained from the manufacturing process of cottonseed oil. They have excellent biodegradability and marine aerobic degradability.

Circularity and sustainability

Biodegradability both in soil and seawater

Rapidly biodegrades in both ocean and soil. Biodegradability does not effected by the product form.
