What is Bemberg™ ?
Bemberg™ is a brand of cupro, regenerated cellulose fiber, exclusively by Asahi Kasei.
Made from 100% cotton linter that is a pre-consumer material, Bemberg™ is a sustainable that is biodegradable and compostable.
History
Born in the late 19th century, Bemberg™ has contributed to achieve a sustainable society, utilizing technology and knowledge to stay close to changes in the fashion industry. Asahi Kasei has been producing Bemberg™ from 1931. Currently, we are one-of-a-kind producer of cupro in the world.
The raw material of Bemberg™ is cotton linter* that is a pre-consumer material obtained from manufacturing process of cottonseed oil. Bemberg™ is biodegradable and compostable fiber.

Closed-loop system
Bemberg™ is a regenerated cellulose fiber made from cotton linter. Since our foundation, we strictly control the chemical substances used in the manufacturing process and have introduced a closed-loop production system that recovers and reuses copper and ammonia. We have been making improvements further even now.
Business Call to Action (BCtA) For the sustainable development of the Indian textile industry
Bemberg™ has been popular in India for more than 40 years as a fiber for traditional costumes such as saris and dupattas. Developing new technologies and fabric proposals for it, we also provide technical support to stakeholders in the whole supply chain, and collaborate with industry and academia. In recognition of these activities, we have been participating in the Business Call to Action (BCtA) led by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) since 2016.
