Technical Information paint
Use in coating applications
Use of DURANOL™ allows you to obtain a polyurethane paint with excellent scratch resistance, chemical resistance, Abrasion resistance, and weather resistance. Above all, liquid type DURANOL™ is amorphous and its stress at a low strain is smaller than that of solid type PCD, thus it can offer softer feeling as a binder of a soft feel paint. Additionally, its solubility to solvents is high and thus, for solvent paints, allows reduction of the amount of solvent used and higher solid content. Furthermore, for water-based paint, it disperses into water with a small amount of solvent (or without solvent) and thus allows environmentally friendly paint design. DURANOL™ is used in a wide range of fields such as automobile, home appliances, mobile devices, and general industries
Abrasion resistance of two-component polyurethane paint using DURANOL™
PCD two-component polyurethane paint offers excellent Abrasion resistance of the paint film.

[Measurement condition]
Coating formulation : Polyol/DURANATE™[TPA-100]/Solvent/DBTDL
Cured at 80°C×2hr
Taber abrasion test : 500g, 500 times grinding
Chemical resistance of DURANOL™
It can be seen that PCD polyurethanes have a smaller swelling rate due to organic solvent when compared to polyether urethanes and polyester urethanes and copolymerized type DURANOL™ has an excellent swelling rate in particular.
(Change in the property of a polyurethane film immersed in oleic acid (23°C) for 1 week)

[Polyurethane formulation] MDI/Polyol/1,4-BDO=2/1/1
Compatibility of DURANOL™ and solvents
Liquid type DURANOL™ (T5652•G4672 and G3452) offers excellent handling property and solvent solubility.
