Asahi Kasei Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Koichiro Kudo; hereinafter "the Company") announces that the Oita Plant (Oita City, Oita Prefecture) of Nihon Elastomer Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayoshi Iwasa), a joint venture with Showa Denko K.K. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Hideto Takahashi), has received a Platinum rating, the highest level of recognition, in the EcoVadis sustainability assessment in December 2023. This Platinum rating is awarded to the top 1% of assessed companies and marks the first time an organization within the Asahi Kasei Group has received this recognition.

The assessment evaluates the sustainability efforts of companies across four areas: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. This time, Nihon Elastomer's Oita Plant received particularly high scores in the "Environment" and "Labor & Human Rights" categories.

EcoVadis ratings are based on international sustainability standards and cover over 120,000 companies across more than 200 industries in 180 countries. The EcoVadis assessment is gaining global recognition as an objective benchmark for measuring corporate sustainability efforts.
