Optimal Grades

The TUFTEC™ M series offers a variety of optimal grades according to the ratio of styrene and butylene in SEBS.

Why TUFTEC™ M Series is Suitable for Compatibilization of Olefin Resins and Polar Resins

The TUFTEC™ M series features a polar group with reactivity within the molecule, giving it high affinity with polar resins such as polyamide (PA). On the other hand, the hydrogenated polybutadiene (ethylene-butylene block) contained in the main chain enhances compatibility with olefin resins. Therefore, it is particularly suitable as a compatibilizer in alloys of polar resins and olefin resins.

TUFTEC™ M Series Improves Mechanical Properties through Compatibilization

Polyamide (PA) and olefin resins are usually incompatible with each other. If they are mixed without a compatibilizer, the phases will separate, resulting in a significant decrease in mechanical properties. However, by adding the TUFTEC™ M series, TUFTEC™ acts as a compatibilizer between PA and olefin resins, enabling the formation of a polymer alloy with improved mechanical properties.

TUFTEC™ M Series Improves Mold Appearance through Compatibilization

Alloying resins that are incompatible often causes surging during the extrusion process and mold appearance defects. Using the TUFTEC™ M series as a compatibilizer ensures that different resins are evenly mixed, resulting in significant improvements in mold appearance.

Compared to the alloy of PP and PA66 without TUFTEC™ (second from the left in the figure), the alloy using TUFTEC™ (third and fourth from the left in the figure) shows a significant improvement in mold appearance.
