Optimal Grade for Impact Modification of Polylactic Acid

TUFTEC™ MP10 is the optimal choice for enhancing impact resistance in polylactic acid.

Impact Resistance Improvement of PLA with TUFTEC™ MP10

TUFTEC™ MP10 is a terminal amine-modified SBBS (selective hydrogenated styrene thermoplastic elastomer) that can significantly improve the brittleness of polylactic acid (PLA). The terminal amine of MP10 reacts with the carbonyl group in the PLA molecule, resulting in a remarkable modification effect. PLA modified with TUFTEC™ MP10 exhibits enhanced flexibility and impact resistance, making it suitable for various applications including food containers and 3D printer filaments.

PLA containing 15wt.% TUFTEC™ MP10 shows significant improvement in impact strength, exceeding the impact resistance of PLA alone or with conventional SEBS.
