Grades Suitable for Polystyrene (PS) Modification

Asahi Kasei's TUFPRENE™ is used as a modifier to impart impact resistance. It is effective in improving impact resistance even for polystyrene (PS), which is brittle against impact.

Grades Suitable for Polystyrene (PS) Modification

TUFPRENE™ is Ideal for Impact Modification of PS

Polystyrene (PS) resins offer excellent moldability, but they are brittle against impact, particularly at low temperatures. As a SBS, TUFPRENE™ exhibits high compatibility with PS, and it contributes to improving "impact resistance" of PS when used as a modifier.

Details of Grades Suitable for Polystyrene (PS) Modification

Grades Optimal for Improving Impact Resistance of Polystyrene

TUFPRENE™ offers two recommended grades due to their differing characteristics.

Improved Impact Resistance with TUFPRENE™

TUFPRENE™ exhibits excellent compatibility with polystyrene (PS) resins and demonstrates stable rubber performance over a wide temperature range (approx. -50℃ to 50℃). By adding TUFPRENE™ to polystyrene (PS) resins, impact resistance can be imparted. It is also characterized by its superior improvement in impact strength at low temperatures.
