Expansion of capacity for assembly of Planova™ filters

Asahi Kasei Medical will add a new assembly line for Planova™
virus removal filters, with a capacity of 20,000 m2/year.
Complementing an existing line of the same capacity, this will raise total
Planova™ filter assembly capacity to 40,000 m2/year.
Planova™ filters are used to remove viruses during the manufacture of
biotherapeutic drug products such as biopharmaceuticals and plasma derivatives.
Enabling high rates of virus removal and protein recovery, Planova™
filters are widely recognized for their robust performance in contributing to
the safety of biotherapeutics. Nearly 90% of sales are to customers in Europe
and the US.
With heightened standards throughout the world for the viral safety
of biotherapeutics and advances in the development of monoclonal antibodies
and other biopharmaceuticals, demand for Planova™ filters is growing briskly.
The new assembly capacity will enable Asahi Kasei Medical to meet this growing
demand. Asahi Kasei Medical is also advancing new product development to
meet emerging needs for quality and performance.
