Light resistance

AZP™ optical resin from Asahi Kasei exhibits excellent light resistance. Its haze, yellowness index (YI), and spectral transmittance show minimal change after light resistance testing.

Light resistance

Withstands harsh sunlight exposure

AZP™ optical resin from Asahi Kasei has excellent light resistance. It maintains transparency and resists yellowing during light resistance tests. It also exhibits minimal change in spectral transmittance during light resistance tests, allowing high color fidelity to be maintained.

Long-term maintenance of transparency

AZP™ shows much smaller change in haze than cyclic olefin polymer (COP) after 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain).
This excellent maintenance of transparency makes AZP™ suitable for automotive parts and other applications subject to prolonged exposure to sunlight.

AZP™ has smaller haze change than cyclic olefin polymer (COP) after 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain).

Haze change of AZP™ and COP after light resistance test

Minimize yellowing

AZP™ shows much less change in yellowness index (YI) than cyclic olefin polymer (COP) after 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain).
Since AZP™ resists yellowing even after prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, it maintains excellent product appearance over the long term.

AZP™ has smaller change in yellowness index (YI) then cyclic olefin polymer (COP) after 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain).

YI change of AZP™ and COP after light resistance test

Maintains high color reproducibility at all wavelengths.

AZP™ shows smaller change in spectral transmittance at all wavelengths than cyclic olefin polymer (COP) after 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain).
This means that AZP™ can provide long-term color fidelity in automotive meter panels and other components that are subject to prolonged exposure to sunlight.

AAfter 1,000-hour light resistance test by SWOM (without rain), AZP™ shows smaller change in spectral transmittance across all wavelengths, shown at left, compared to cyclic olefin polymer (COP), shown at right.
The graph shows typical test results, not guaranteed values.

More technical information

Low birefringence

AZP™ has low birefringence comparable to glass. It maintains extremely low birefringence even under stress or when shaped into lenses, allowing for clearer image formation.

Low birefringence

Heat resistance

AZP™ optical resin from Asahi Kasei exhibits excellent heat resistance. Its dimensions, Haze, YI, and spectral transmittance show minimal change after heat resistance testing.

Reasons to Choose AZP™

AZP™ from Asahi Kasei is a completely new optical resin with almost no birefringence. It enables a vivid and clear visual experience, along with light weight, small size, and high flexibility in design that cannot be obtained with conventional resins or glass.
